I’m Ken. I live, as I have most of my life, in San Diego, California.
I blog because I have strong political opinions that are left-of-center and they aren’t well received anywhere else. You feel like you’re pushing a boulder up a mountain in craigslist fora if not ruining the happy time of people comfortable in their dumbth. I guess I just had to get my own sandbox to play in. The other reason is that I was really picky about the kind of features that I wanted in a blogging site: I found them here at Tumblr.
My work history includes 7 years in software quality assurance test. My political history consists of decades as a registered Green; I was active with Greens locally and had a falling out with them. Local Greens will say that I am disruptive – and perhaps too white, straight and male for their tastes. My side of the story is that they have a practice of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory in much of what they do. What became clear at the very end of it is that partisanship is irrelevant for any person of any ideological stripe because the barriers for real plurality in any American electoral system needs to be fixed before anything can reliably get done for any electorate.
Some might be unimpressed with this blog because most of the posts are brief and derivative. That’s O.K. There are a some reasons why:
- You know what they say about opinions and assholes. Keeping that in mind, I’m not going to pretend that you, gentle reader, will enjoy having either of mine in your face for an extended period of time.
- On more than one occasion, I’ve come across some work that is derivative of something else.
- Someone else has often had the same thought, put more energy in to it than I would, wrote about it and then it ended up on the internet. I think it would be pretty arrogant / foolish to re-write the same piece in my own words.
- I’m not going to pretend that I won’t plagiarize unintentionally, so I won’t try.
It’s not all hard and heavy stuff with me, sometimes there is lighter stuff; decorum keeps me from going too far, though. I will tweet my more transient thoughts. Also, I don’t tweet about every blog that I post here.
These are other posts on Tumblr that I like.
How is the weather here? Take a look for yourself, please.

About Your Tumblr
I’m seeing a lot of Tumblrs add me, but they seem closed off to communication: no e-mail addresses to send a message, Disqus is not enabled to comment on posts. No, I don’t think that the ask me a question feature is sufficient – well, for me it is not. I don’t understand why anyone would blog but not want any input on it. To me, it seems either timid or vain. What’s more, the Tumblrs seem incomplete without a page like this explaining who you are in some way and why you have the Tumblr. People add me, I look at their page out of courtesy and I come away feeling about it.
Yes, it’s your Tumblr and you do it the way you want, and that is OK. Here is the deal: if you don’t have something explaining your Tumblr or not even an e-mail address to contact you about it, then please don’t count on me adding you.
