“The economy isn’t a stagnant, fixed pie. Immigrants don’t simply drain our economy of jobs and resources; they also increase demand for existing supply chains, creating new jobs and boosting labor wages in the process. Overall, immigrants — even the undocumented ones — are good for the U.S. economy.”—
I’d have to say it won’t be as bad as the subjugation of the Rose Bowl to the BCS, Even though Cal hasn’t won it for the better part of a century, it’s been the goal of all Cal football fans to return and win — something fewer-and-fewer of us recall if we have seen it. The BCS raises the specter that Cal football could win the Pac-10 and not get a trip to The Rose Bowl that so many fans have waited most of their lives for…that would suck.
You can do anything you damn want because you didn’t just sleep with the boss, you married him and bore a child by him. So you have the tiger by the tail.
I wouldn’t mind your nepotism too much if you were on either at night or during the morning, but you do both. Everyone says that if you had journalistic integrity, you’d never do that night gig that I never watch. But you do both and rub the nepotism in everyone’s faces. Must you, Ms. Chen?
Aly Morita thinks that it’s derogatory to Asians. I dunno - I’m too white and male to comment. I’d like to think that Jackie Chan would bring better martial arts to it than the original, but I’d like to have that confirmed.
A 2008 survey commissioned by the human rights group Gisha showed that they were at once realistic and intransigent. Seventy-nine percent of the 600 Jewish respondents, a near-consensus, agreed that the closure primarily harms civilians. Sixty percent worried that it would increase Islamic extremism, fully two-thirds (67%) said it hurt Israel’s image internationally. Nearly eight-in-ten (78%) said it would not bring down the Hamas. Despite acknowledging these failings, a broad majority of nearly two-thirds (63%) rejected easing the closure.
Accordingly, in a survey by the Dahaf polling agency for the Knesset Channel taken just before the ships set sail, 65% of 425 Jewish Israelis said Israel should “prohibit protest inside Israel’s territory such as the aid flotilla for Gaza residents.” (Note the keyword: “inside.”)
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.”—Nelson Mandela
“It’s a fantastic honour (for) the Gershwin family to give me this incredible award and for me to be awarded it by the Library of Congress. And in fact, after the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is.”—
“It appeared to me that people were leaving the state before the bill passed. I also felt the Hispanic population be it legal or illegal were fearful of the whole thing. I felt that that really disrupted business. We had to come up with a concept that wasn’t going to be affected. They’re not going to put a bill that is against cowboys.”—Economic casualty of SB 1070, Brian Weymouth, the president of the Julio César Chávez Enterprises on the closing of his night club Campeones in Mesa, AZ.
