If You Want to Invite Me to A Protest over School Budget Cuts or Tuition Raises in California, Please Choose More Appropriate Locations and Targets to Protest (At)

Simply put, if you are doing it on campus or at a board of ed meeting, you’re doing it wrong.

In California (if not any other state), school boards, community college boards, chancellors, presidents, boards of trustees or regents do not set the state’s budget priorities; the governor and the legislature do. They are the ones who pull the levers on how many teachers are available for your kids, which schools are closed and how much college tuition goes up (if at all). Those are the people you should take your complaints to and demand action of.

If you want me to participate in your protest, give me enough lead time and protest (at) the right target: pick an office from these lists. I’ll be more likely to attend if the address is 921xx or 919xx zip codes, maybe even a 920xx.

P.S: I’ll travel further if you identify that your given legislator is an anti-tax zealot (that means doing your research and finding me URLs quoting a given legislator saying “taxes kill jobs blah blah blah”).
