He K.O. ed himself again. While Intrade hasn’t picked how much longer Olbermann will last, I predict that he will released from MSNBC by the middle of January, 2011…just a guess.
You just have to look at Olbermann’s work history - the guy is insubordinate because he knows how good he is at his job, what ever that may be. Many think it presumptuous for him to take on the mantle of Edward R. Murrow, much like Napoleon reputedly coronated himself Emperor of France. Olbermann suffers fools poorly - a trait that is a double edged sword in this very polarized day and age. Olbermann’s fans see so many journalists, pundits and citizen activists wading and wallowing in dumbth that is not just part and parcel of their ideology, but has become the foundation that ideology, even to their own detrement. As a result, Olbermann has a career in reporting on how The Emperor has no clothes each weekday — reportage on such rhetoric is not the to the taste of Jon Stewart, Steve Capus or Tom Brokaw. They don’t see it as straight news; never mind that dumbth replaces fact and substance in what passes for political discourse when reported by Objective Journalists™.
Those who object to the tone of Olbermann’s work while giving little, if any, heed to the content of that work will bring the situation to the brink; Olbermann’s insubordinance will soon become the tipping point.
